Ringos countryalbum

Ringo i Nashville, 1970.

I et intervju med GQ avslører gitarist Billy Strings at Ringo Starrs countryalbum som han spiller på, utgis i januar og har tittelen “Look Up”.

I artikkelen heter det:

“Alongside an elite crew of Nashville aces, he just cut an entire record with Ringo Starr and T-Bone Burnett, Look Up, that’s due in January.”

T-Bone Burnett er produsent på Ringos kommende album og har etter alt å dømme også komponert musikken, alene eller sammen med andre. Og hyggelig at også denne gangen er det et stjernelag av Nashvilles musikere som akkompagnerer. det var også tilfelle med Ringos forrige countryalbum “Beaucoups Of Blues”, som kom ut i 1970.

Denne gangen virker det ikke som Ringo har tatt turen til Nashville selv, det er T-Bone som har holdt innspillingsøktene der og bare tatt med seg de ni ferdige sangene til Los Angeles, hvor Ringo har spilt inn sin vokal og muligens trommer og/eller perkusjon i sitt eget studio der.

I mai sa Ringo dette om albumet i et intervju med Variety:

“We’ve done 90% of my work. He (T-Bone) may want to put other stuff on it. And tomorrow I’m gonna finish off the odd lines I have to re-sing or think about, and then it should be done. As far as I’m concerned, the drums are good and the songs are good and, you know, I sing to the best of my ability, but sometimes I change the melody. That’s the way I am, and I had to back off a bit and do his melody, because he wrote it. So that’s what happened. It just came about and we’re just going with the flow. And now we’ve got a country record.”

I samme åndedrag avslørte han at albumet vil komme ut både på vinyl og CD.
